$140 million, $129 million and $158 million for the years ended December 31, 2007, 2006 and 2005,
respectively.
Cash received from option exercises was $96 million for the year ended December 31, 2007. The actual
tax benefit realized for the tax deductions from option exercises totaled $52 million for the year ended
December 31, 2007.
Restricted Stock
To date, restricted stock granted under the Incentive Plan has been subject to performance vesting criteria.
This restricted stock must vest over a minimum of a 12-month performance period. Performance criteria may
include the achievement of any of several financial and business goals, such as “Core Earnings” earnings per
share, loan volume, market share, overhead or other expense reduction, or “Core Earnings” net income. The
Company pays or credits dividends on nonvested restricted stock.
In accordance with SFAS No. 123(R), the fair value of restricted stock awards is estimated on the date of
grant based on the market price of the stock and is amortized to compensation cost on a straight-line basis
over the related vesting periods. As of December 31, 2007, there was $6 million of unrecognized compensation
cost related to restricted stock, which is expected to be recognized over a weighted average period of 1.7 years.

The total fair value of shares that vested during the years ended December 31, 2007, 2006 and 2005, was
$8 million, $3 million and $16 million, respectively.
Restricted Stock Units
The Company has granted restricted stock units (“RSUs”) to certain executive management employees.
Conversion of vested RSUs to common stock is deferred until the employee’s retirement or termination of
employment. The fair value of each grant is estimated on the date of grant based on the market price of the
stock and is amortized to compensation cost on a straight-line basis over the related vesting periods. As of
December 31, 2007, there was no unrecognized compensation cost related to RSUs.
