The Company added the cumulative total return on the S&P 500 Commercial Bank Industry Index this
year in advance of retiring the comparison to the S&P 500 Diversified Banks Index in 2008 and
replacing it with this index. The reason for this transition is that the Company believes the S&P 500
Commercial Bank Industry Index provides a more comprehensive representation of peer banks than
does the S&P 500 Diversified Banks Index, which currently is comprised of four banks. The S&P 500
Commercial Bank Industry Index is currently comprised of 19 banks and includes the four banks that
are currently included in the S&P 500 Diversified Banks Index.
