SUSTAINABLE
TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS
CREATING SHARED
VALUE
RESPONSIBLE
BEHAVIOR
Intelligent technology
Intelligent technology means investing in
pioneering research and development for
innovative technology, transport and ser-
vice solutions to contribute to efficient
transport systems. This includes investing
in connectivity, automation, safety and
data protection as well as adaptation of
products and services to reduce conges-
tion and improve the economic, social
and environmental dimensions of urban
mobility, distribution and infrastructure.
Emissions (products)
Emissions related to our products involves
developing cleaner transport solutions
designed to reduce consumption of fossil
fuels and lower emissions of CO2, NOx,
particulate matter, and noise.
This year’s analysis shows an
increased focus for this area together
with an increased interest for environ-
mentally enhanced products as well as
expectations of more regulations.
Energy-efficiency (products)
Energy efficient products originate from
developing leaner and smarter solutions
designed to reduce energy consumption,
operational costs and environmental
impacts.
Energy efficiency decreased some-
what in importance compared to last
year’s survey. One explanation for this
may be lower fuel prices.
Customer satisfaction
For us customer satisfaction means
building long-term brand loyalty and
business partnerships by understanding
customer needs, delivering the right
products and services, and taking a total
lifecycle approach to support customer
profitability through quality, fuel efficiency,
uptime, and aftermarket services.
Financial health
Financial health is the prerequisite for
doing business and for creating long-
term value for our shareholders. We are
maximizing long-term growth and value by
reinvesting in our business, prioritizing
opportunities, optimizing cost structures
and creating sustainable competitive
positions for all our products and services.
Skilled workforce
Skilled workforce involves ensuring the
optimal workforce composition, attracting
and developing people with required
skills and competences as well as
retaining talent and developing the talent
pipeline to remain competitive.
Legal compliance
Succeeding in legal compliance includes
continuous development of corporate
governance, policies and practices to
ensure adherence and compliance with
all applicable laws, regulations and
directives.
Our embedded compliance program,
together with training in anti-corruption
and competition law, are examples of
activities in this area.
Business ethics and integrity
Business ethics and integrity is about
creating a responsible culture and being
aware of risks in order to maintain our
reputation as a trustworthy company.
The starting point being Volvo Group
culture values, leadership, transparency
and ourCode ofConduct.
Our new Game of Conduct course is
an example of an activity in this area.
Supply chain
Creating long-term business relations
with our suppliers is important for cost
efciency and quality assurance and for a
socially and environmentally responsible
supply chain. For the Volvo Group this
means CSR assessments, supporting
local procurement and securing delivery
of our own plans.
