(1) The accumulated benefit obligation for defined benefit pension plans was zero as of September 30, 2005 and December 31, 2005.
(2) In 2005, US Airways recognized curtailments and settlements related to the termination of its remaining material defined benefit
pension plans. These curtailments and settlements were recognized in accordance with SFAS No. 88, "Employers' Accounting for
Settlements and Curtailments of Defined Benefit Pension Plans and for Termination Benefits." In 2005, US Airways recognized
curtailments related to the significant redesign of the other postretirement benefit plans (primarily medical and dental benefits).
These curtailments were recognized in accordance with SFAS No. 106, "Employers' Accounting for Postretirement Benefits Other
Than Pensions."
