27. Subsequent Events
Consistent with its annual equity compensation practices, on October 12, 2011, the Company
granted Tyco employees 3.4 million share options with a weighted-average grant-date fair value of
$12.45 per share at the date of grant. Additionally, the Company granted 1.1 million and 0.5 million
restricted stock units and performance share units with a weighted-average grant-date fair value of
$44.32 and $48.86 per share on the date of grant, respectively.
Through November 9, 2011, the Company repurchased approximately 5 million common shares for
$200 million under the $1 billion share repurchase program approved by the Board of Directors in
April 2011.
