The third quarter includes income of $30 million from a special item as discussed in Note 20, "Special Items."

The third quarter was favorably impacted by the reversal of accrued interest of $30 million while the first and second quarters were
adversely affected by interest accruals related to the Chase agreement as discussed in Note 18, "Advanced Purchase of Miles."

(24) Subsequent Event
In February 2008, 1.0 million shares of 2% convertible preferred stock were converted into approximately 2.2 million UAL common shares.
