Helped by this team
in Cincinnati, in
2002 PNC employ-
ees reached their
goal of contributing
1 million volunteer
hours to community
groups.
Money®magazine
named PNC’s com-
prehensive benefits
package as one of the
best in the country
in a survey of large
employers.
PNC employees
celebrated teamwork
and earned prizes
as part of the
Chairmans
Challenge referral
program, which gen-
erated $161 million
in new business.
At PNC, everything begins and
ends with our people. As they
interact with customers, our peo-
ple represent the business and
power of PNC. As they help to
enrich our communities, our
people represent the citizenship
and heart of PNC.
In 2002, the 24,000 PNC
team members once again
worked together to deliver
extraordinary results. More
employees than ever took part
in selling PNC products and
services. Through a campaign
called the Chairmans Challenge,
82% of eligible employees
referred new business, leading
to 20,000 new accounts.
Our employees also contin-
ued to proudly make a difference
in our communities. They
achieved the 1 million volunteer
hour goal set three years ago,
and, when combined with cor-
porate support, they contributed
$3.5 million to local United
Way campaigns.
To continue attracting and
retaining a talented and commit-
ted workforce, PNC has devel-
oped one of the best packages of
benefits and employee programs
in the country. Weve opened two
PNC-subsidized back-up child
care centers and provide outstand-
ing long-term savings and
employee stock purchase plans.
As important, we take time
to applaud our employees’ many
successes and accomplishments.
And why not — they deserve it.
After all, at PNC, everything
begins and ends with them.
