11. Property, plant and equipment continued
The net book value of land and buildings and equipment, fixtures and fittings includes £49 million and £116 million, respectively (2006: £nil and £52 million)
in relation to assets held under finance leases (see note 24).
Included in the net book value of land and buildings and equipment, fixtures and fittings are assets in the course of construction, which are not depreciated,
with a cost of £13 million and £998 million, respectively (2006: £30 million and £967 million).
Borrowings of £73 million (2006: £426 million) have been secured against property, plant and equipment.
12. Principal subsidiary undertakings
At 31 March 2007, the Company had the following subsidiary undertakings carrying on businesses which principally affect the profits and assets of the Group.
They have the same year end date as the Company, unless otherwise stated, and have been included in the Consolidated Financial Statements.
Unless otherwise stated, the Company’s principal subsidiary undertakings all have share capital consisting solely of ordinary shares and are indirectly held.
The country of incorporation or registration of all subsidiary undertakings is also their principal place of operation.
