(III) Estimated environmental protection expenses:
1. ASUS will continue to conduct ISO14064 Greenhouse Gas Emission Validation and
product carbon footprint validation process.
2. ASUS will introduce energy management systems in focused efforts to save energy
and reduce greenhouse gas emission.
3. ASUS will continue to invest in green design, green procurement, green production,
and green marketing to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and commitment to the
care of the earth.
(IV) Responsive actions related to environmental regulations:
ASUS cares about environmental protection, resource sustainability, and ecosystem
issues. The company’s environmental and occupational safety and health policies
establish environmental protection and health management systems to substantiate
ASUS’s ongoing concern with employee and environmental well-being. ASUS has
initiated many eco-friendly programs that are new in Taiwan, leading the industry and
actively raising awareness. In addition to promoting GreenASUS internally, the
SERASUS program works with suppliers to promote a green supply chain, reinforcing
green design, developing green products, encouraging recycling mechanisms and
power-saving product design in compliance with the global environmental standards of
WEEE, RoHS, and ErP. Also, ASUS has received international environmental protection
citation and awards as a leading green high-tech enterprise.
1. ASUS has complied with global environmental regulations:
ASUS has a GreenASUS program to monitor and respond to global environmental
protection regulations including RoHs, WEEE, ErP, REACH, product energy
efficiency and applicable laws and regulations regarding packing, waste and shipping.
ASUS has RoHS test equipment available for component, work-in-process goods, and
by-product testing.
2. Certification of environmental protection system:
In fulfilling the quality assurance of the Taiwan environmental protection system,
ASUS’s Quality Management System operates in accordance with ISO and HSPM of
IECQ QC 080000. ASUS has received the certification of IECQ QC080000 and IECQ
hazard substances procedure management systems.
3. International environmental protection citations and awards:
ASUS implements the following solutions for environmental protection:
(1) ASUS takes into consideration product design for reducing use of environmentally
hazardous raw materials. Along with green product design, the company also
works to: reduce product energy consumption, extend product service life, manage
waste and packaging efficiency. These steps result in various green marks such as
the EPEAT Green Mark, EU Flower green mark, Czech Ecolabelling, the
certification of TCO, Energy Star, Taiwan Green Mark, J-Moss Green mark, and
China Energy Label.
(2) ASUS introduced the halogen-free policy in 2008 by launching multiple
halogen-free demonstration products such as laptop computer (NB), PDAs,
