7.Health and safety: Provide employees with a trustworthy, respectful, healthy and
safe working environment.
8.Employee training and self-development: Training facilities, programs, and
dedicated time for exercise are available to support employee health.
In addition to the aforementioned human rights policy fulfilled by ASUS, suppliers and
contractors are expected to protect the rights of all employees, and to enhance awareness of the
corporate social responsibility policy of ASUS. ASUS routinely conducts CSR audits of
suppliers, adding analysis of education, training and past audit results to encourage improvement
and to ensure that suppliers protect all of the rights—health, safety, and environment—of all
employees.
To fulfill its corporate social responsibility, ASUS also promotes social responsibility. ASUS has
always held the goals of closing the digital gap, enhancing innovation capacity, cultivating
high-tech talent, promoting industry cooperation and environmental protection, and developing
energy-saving technology. In 2008, ASUS established the ASUS Culture Foundation, calling for
employees to perform public service for the good of society.
The ASUS Culture Foundation has been connecting and cooperating with government and
non-profit organizations since its founding in 2008. The Foundation applies different methods
and activities, provokes and invites the public to continuously emphasize and pay attention to
social related issues, The Foundation also attempts to connect different organizations within
society to effect a common good. Additionally, the Foundation works to enhance education and
to improve the quality of life, and also encourages global exchange. The achievements promoted
by ASUS and by the ASUS Culture Foundation in 2014 include the following:
1. Programs to bridge the digital divide
ASUS has been developing environmentally friendly programs that help to close the
digital gap since 2009. Apart from donating computers to disadvantaged groups in
different townships of Taiwan, ASUS also assists 18 countries (Guatemala,
Dominique Republic, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Honduras, Ecuador, Belize, Salvador,
Mexico, Peru, Panama, Haiti, Malaysia, India, and Tanzania) with promotion of
digital learning tools, assisting children living in rural areas, young students in
poverty, women and seniors to close the digital gap and to promote digital education,
learning experience exchange, and work internship opportunities. Over 6 years,
ASUS donated an estimated 1,900 new laptops and 8,000 recycled computers,
established over 100 computer classrooms, and organized various Information and
Communication Technology competitions—i.e. micro-film, blog competition,
story-telling with photos, charity travelers, and IcanFly employment incubation.
(1) Reverse recycling, contributions of recycled computers and the Love Earth
project
Since 2008 ASUS has promoted the Recycled Computers, Engineering Hope
program to recycle used computers and reassemble components and install
software. By recycling computers, the program promotes the ASUS eco-friendly
policy of caring for the earth. At the same time, it actively promotes efforts to
close the digital gap.
In 2014, the number of recycled computers and IT equipment reached 14,956, up
41% compared with the 10,541 computers recycled in 2013. The number of new
recycling centers joining in 2014 was 33, up 80% compared with 41 recycling
centers in 2013.
