energy-saving technology to improve carbon footprint with material substitution
and energy effectiveness upgrade. The product had qualified carbon footprint
certification in November 2010.
(3) GreenPeace arranged Electronics Survey in 2010 for assessing the chemical
substance of products, energy efficiency, prolonging life span of products, and
others. The first halogen-free monitor, VW247H-HF, of ASUS was graded 7.5 on
the 1-10 scale outperforming others and was ranked in the first place. Moreover,
the UL30A notebook was also ranked in the first place among notebook computers.
ASUS was the one and only brand ranked in the first place for both products.
(4) ASUS Eee PC 1015PE received Green ICT Award at COMPUTEX in 2010 for its
great environmental protection feature.
(5) ASUS has setup free product recycling service in North America in 2006. ASUS
was invited to participate in Electronics Take Back Coalition with outstanding

ASUS’s green achievements:
(1) ASUS has products designed without using materials that are harmful to
environment, with the consideration of environmental protection, reducing
product energy consumption, extending product life span, waste control and
management, and product packaging management in order to receive
environmental protection marks, such as, EPEAT (USA), EU Flower mark
(Europe), environmental protection mark (Czech Republic), Energy Star (USA),
environmental protection mark (Taiwan), J-MOSS (Japan), and energy saving
mark (China).
(2) The halogen-free policy has been introduced since 2008 with the halogen-free
products of NB, PDAs, displayer, EeePC, and VGA introduced. Check
components and spare parts continuously to reach the goal of total halogen-free
products. The first high resolution (1920x1080) halogen-free monitor
(VW247H-HF) and the first halogen-free motherboard (P7P55D-E/HF) were
developed in 2010. ASUS will move towards the goal of total halogen-free
products.
(3) Conduct product life cycle inventory (LCI) and environmental impact
assessment analysis; also, complete Class III environmental declarations and
carbon footprint certification.
(4) Construct ASUS corporate social responsibility website (http://csr.asus.com/) to
disclose the information related to the responsibility of ASUS for environmental
protection and society. It is the interaction platform for stakeholders who care
about information related to the environmental protection of ASUS.
(5) Introduce brands, green design, and recycling process development program.
Establish branded “green design and green recycling process management
platform” including establishing international monitoring system for
environmental information regulations, green product easy dismantling and easy
recycling/reusing design and validation system and green recycling and process
monitoring system. Moreover, the brands, green design, and recycling process
development program is in for international environmental performance rating
and ranked in the first place in the category or computer and peripherals by the
