(V) Fulfillment of social responsibility
Item Operation Deviation from the Rules Governing Listed &
OTC corporate governance and the cause
1. Promote the implementation of corporate governance
(1) Corporate defines corporate social responsibility policy or system
and review the effect of implementation
(2) Operation of corporate social responsibility full-time (part-time) unit
(3) Corporate arranges business ethics education, training, and
promotion periodically for the directors, supervisors, and
employees; also, it is integrated with employee’s performance
evaluation system for a clear and effective reward and punishment
system.
(1) ASUS has corporate social responsibility policy and guidelines
defined that can be looked up at ASUS corporate sustainability
report and ASUS CSR website at http://csr.asus.com.
(2) ASUS has corporate sustainability office setup to promote
corporate social responsibility policy and meet regularly to review
and improve.
(3) ASUS invites corporate ethics and insider trade legal experts
regularly to arrange education, training, and promotion for the
directors. Directors while monitoring business operation will be
able to meet the expectation of the related party on business ethics
and minimize the risk of violating regulations while performing
job responsibility. ASUS has the Business Ethics & Anti-Bribery
Policy defined. In addition to regular internal education, training,
and promotion, process auditing and promotion is arranged for
external suppliers. For ensuring the effectiveness of the said
education, training, and promotion, employee’s attitude and
learning effect will be included in the performance evaluation
system. The Reward and Punishment system will be established
through step-by-step improvement.

2. The development of a sustainable environment
(1) ASUS strives to upgrade the effectiveness of resources utilization;
also, uses recycled materials that are friendly to the environment
(2) ASUS establishes adequate environmental management system by
the industrial features
(3) ASUS setups environmental management specialists unit to protect
the environment
(4) ASUS stays alert the impact of climate change on business activities;
also, drafts up energy saving and carbon reduction and greenhouse
gas reduction strategy.
(1) ASUS saved 1.2 million degrees of power, 430,000 degrees of
gas, and 220,000 degrees of water; also, reduced 836 tons of CO2
emission in 2010 comparing to 2009. Disposable cups and utensils
are not used at the cafeteria and conference rooms of ASUS for
minimizing the impact on the environment.
(2) ASUS had passed ISO14001 Environmental Management System
Certification in 1998 and complied with PDCA annually.
(3) ASUS has two personnel designated for waste and sewage system
management and filing.
(4) ASUS has committed to greenhouse gas reduction; also, disclose
greenhouse gas emission information that can be looked up on the
corporate sustainability report and ASUS CSR website.
The products of ASUS have based on carbon footprint standard
PAS 2050:2008 and ISO 14067-1(CD):2010 of the BSI to complete
lifecycle carbon emission investigation. Greenhouse gas reduction
is achieved by material substitute and energy efficiency upgrade.
