METHANE GAS SUPPLIES
SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
The plant obtains around half of its energy from waste landfi ll gases.
Microorganisms produce methane gas from old
waste at the Palmetto Landfi ll. Wellheads extract
the gas, which is then pumped to the Spartanburg
plant through a
15
-kilometre pipeline.
