Franchise and license fees and income
China Division Franchise and license fees and income for 2010 and 2009 were negatively impacted by 10% and 19%,
respectively, related to the acquisition of additional interest in, and consolidation of, an entity that operated the KFCs in
Shanghai, China during 2009. See Note 4.
U.S. Franchise and license fees and income for 2010 and 2009 was positively impacted by 3% and 5%, respectively, due
to the impact of refranchising.
Worldwide Franchise and license fees and income for 2009 included a reduction of $32 million as a result of ou
r
reimbursements to KFC franchisees for installation costs for the national launch of Kentucky Grilled Chicken that has no
t
been allocated to the U.S. segment for performance reporting purposes.
