The net book value of land and buildings comprises freeholds of £666m (2002: £499m), long leaseholds of £129m (2002: £80m) and short leaseholds of
£153m (2002: £157m). The net book value of equipment, fixtures and fittings and network infrastructure includes £378m (2002: £473m) in respect of
assets held under finance leases (see note 27).
Other movements principally comprise a reduction in decommissioning and restoration provisions, capitalised in accordance with FRS 12, “Provisions,
liabilities and assets”.
