+ 25.7 %). The 3 Series is also currently undergoing a
model change. The new BMW 3 Series Sedan was first
revealed to the public in October 2011 and will be
launched on markets worldwide in mid-February 2012.
Despite approaching the end of its life cycle, the 3 Series
continued to perform extremely well in 2011 (384,464
units; – 3.6 %). The BMW 5 Series had another highly
successful year, with sales up by 39.4 % to 332,501 units,
enabling it to retain its eminent position as market
leader worldwide in its segment. At the level of the
BMW 6 Series, the new Convertible was launched in
spring 2011 and the new Coupé in the autumn, boosting
the worldwide sales volume for this series to 9,396 units
(+ 60.7 %). During the year under report, we handed
over 68,774 units of the BMW 7 Series to customers
(+ 4.5 %). At 18,809 units, sales of the BMW Z4 were 23.5 %
down on the previous year.
The various models of the BMW X family also performed
extremely well during the year under report. The
BMW X1 was handed over to 126,429 customers (+ 26.4 %).
