Total rent expense charged to operations under these operating leases for the fiscal years ended January 2,
2016, January 3, 2015 and December 28, 2013 was $42,133, $44,228, and $46,300, respectively.
15. Segment and Geographic Data
The Company has four reportable segments based on an integrated geographical structure as follows: North
America, United Kingdom, Continental Europe (CE) and Other. Other consists of Asia Pacific and emerging
markets operations and franchise revenues and related costs, all of which have been grouped together as if they
were a single reportable segment because they do not meet any of the quantitative thresholds and are immaterial
for separate disclosure. To be consistent with the information that is presented to the chief operating decision
maker, the Company does not include intercompany activity in the segment results.
