Video games are the most
vibrant art form of our time.
They have become far more than
just a hobby. They are a culture.
A creative outlet. A global
community. Only GameStop’s
pre-owned business lets gamers
Play. Trade. Save. Repeat so they
can experience this phenomenon
again and again.
more than 25% versus 2013 by enhancing our in-store
merchandising efforts. Sales of pre-owned hardware
units also increased more than 29% versus 2013 as
value consumers entered the video game category by
purchasing affordable legacy hardware. Critical to
the continued success of our buy-sell-trade program
is the competitive advantage we have through our
10 Refurbishment Operations Centers (ROCs) located
around the world. Collectively, our ROCs refurbished
more than 10 million video game software units,
1.4 million video game hardware units, 1.8 million
video game accessories and more than 1 million
consumer electronics units in 2014. Due to our
on-going, global sustainability efforts, these products
were kept out of the world’s landfills by being
cleaned, repaired and resold in our GameStop and
Spring Mobile’s Cricket Wireless stores. In all, we
prevented nearly 13 million pounds of video game
and consumer electronics waste from impacting
the environment.
