LOOKING AHEAD
Focusing on the Future
We have continued to transform GameStop’s
business the last few years by leveraging our core
competencies to enter into new categories, such
as digital and mobile video gaming, re-commerce,
wireless services and consumer electronics. As we
look to the future, our global family of associates
will continue to embrace and drive a high rate of
change. Together, we will fuel the right amount of
change needed to deliver sustainable growth and
the continued evolution of GameStop as a company
with a diversified portfolio of retail brands and
product offerings.
There are several priorities we must focus on in order
to be successful. First, we must maximize our core
video game business and dominate the new console
cycle. Next, we will continue to offer customers value
through new and expanded benefits of our PowerUp
Rewards loyalty program and unique buy-sell-trade
business. Third, the introduction of new product
offerings, such as video and entertainment
collectibles, allows us to expand into new, popular
categories to give our customers expanded selection
in our stores around the world. Finally, driven by the
success of our Spring Mobile and Simply Mac retail
brands since joining our GameStop family, we will
continue to aggressively expand their footprints and
expect them to contribute more to our profitability.
As our global teams relentlessly pursue these
strategic initiatives, we intend to continue our
disciplined approach to capital allocation by
returning a significant portion of our excess free
cash to our shareholders through regular dividends
and stock buybacks.
Leading in Video Games
We will continue leading the global video game
category by focusing on growing our market share
in physical and digital gaming.
Broadening Into New Categories
We are expanding into new retail categories to
give customers more selection of pop-culture
items, such as board games, figurines and other
exclusive collectibles.
Expanding Our Technology Brands
Our Spring Mobile and Simply Mac retail brands
represent great growth vehicles for us. We will
add another 350 to 550 retail stores through new
store openings, acquisitions and the conversion of
GameStop stores.
