BEYOND THE GAME We have examined the ways in which technology products are
distributed to consumers outside the gaming space and discovered that synergies
exist with our business model. We also identified several core competencies that
we believe are transferable to other consumer electronics categories. Based on
this, we acquired two new businesses that now give us growth opportunities in the
$185 billion U.S. wireless and $208 billion global consumer electronics markets. |
Investing in these opportunities provides GameStop new ways to deliver sustainable
revenue growth and gives our investors long-term earnings potential as we build a
portfolio of technology brands that complement our core business. In addition, we
remain committed to a disciplined capital allocation program based on returning
excess free cash to shareholders through regular dividends and stock buybacks.
We acquired Spring Mobile, an
authorized AT&T dealer of wireless services,
and one of the nation’s fastest growing
operators with 164 stores in 13 states.
We entered into a strategic dealer
agreement with Cricket®Wireless,
a subsidiary of AT&T that offers value-
conscious consumers a first-class, pre-
paid wireless experience without annual
contracts. We currently operate 31 Cricket
Wireless stores in the Seattle, Cleveland,
Los Angeles and Dallas markets.
We also acquired Simply
Mac, the largest certified
retailer of Apple’s full
assortment of products and
services with 23 stores
across the U.S.
