the sophisticated hardware/software integration to shake up the market. In October, ASUS presented
PadFone2 Deformation Phone in Milan and Taipei to the world in synchronization. The upright flat plug
design leads in the industry specification and innovative intuition by making inroads to the smart
telecommunication consumer groups through user experience. Next, Chairman Jonney Shih released the
latest Windows 8 operating system in New York while CEO Jerry Shen presented the product in Taipei,
pushing the stunning new products such as ASUS TAICHI, ASUS Transformer AiO, and ASUS
Transformer Book to new heights.
In the 2012 Best Choice Award, ASUSTek received six awards for several products consecutively. In
particular, ASUS’s Transformer Pad Infinity and PadFone deformation phones have been awarded with
the Golden Awards in Best Choice in category of computer and system products as well as innovative
smart mobile devices. ASUS also received Green ICT Award for Eee Box EB1033 featuring a recyclable
ratio of more than 90-percent. The P1 Featherweight Portable Projector and ASUS O!Play TV Pro smart
TV set top box were awarded with Best Choice awards in category of “Display & Digital Entertainment.”
On the other hand, EA-N66 dual-band wireless-N900 Gigabit Ethernet adapter was recognized by Best
Choice in category of Computex.
This January, 15 ASUS products received 2013 CES Innovations Awards. The awards cover a wide range
of innovative designs and technologies across six categories: Gaming Hardware and Accessories,
Computer Hardware and Components, Computer Peripherals, Tablets, E-readers and Mobile Computing,
Video Displays, and Wireless Handsets. This February, 8 ASUS products won the iF awards in Germany,
including one package design award. The design strength of ASUS is again recognized globally. The
Global Mobile Awards 2013 has listed Tablet products into the award list for the first time while the first
MWC awarded tablet was won by Asus’s Nexus 7.
Under the efforts of all peers, ASUS has created a number of unparalleled hero products and performance.
The rise of cloud computing is leading to the advent digital new era. We anticipate ourselves to continue
progress and always choose the long path to sustain simplicity, focus, sophistication, and , focused,
sophisticated, and essence by launching more hero products. We project to become a global leading
enterprise recognized by the world in the future.
In the latest statistics released by IDC, the views towards PC market is still conservative and it is
anticipated that the industry in the first half will continue the correction from last half-year with
continuous slugging business. The market will resume only by the second half year. Despite of the demand
for Win8 from the PC industry and the factor lightweight laptop, the market performance still falls behind.
The touch laptop which the market looks forward to is subject to impact from tightening supply and
demand from touch panel productivity and the slightly high price slows down the quantity of end-user
products. Additionally, NPD market research suggested that the shipment for tablet pc in 2013 will surpass
that of laptop computer while the market share will break 5% for the first time, indicating that the market
sales ratio can reach 1:1. In particularly, the 7~8” tablet PC will become mainstream market and the
shipment is estimated to grow by 20% or higher compared to 2012. According to the forecast from global
economy prospects, industry conditions and businesses, ASUS is targeting the main products in 2013 with
laptop computer sales between 20 million to 25 million while the tablet pc will exceed over 12 million
