c. ASUS World Citizen/International Volunteer Project” the project was initiated
in 2011 to cooperate with ADOC secretary office, Chiao Tung University,
Tsing Hwa University and Zhishan Foundation by dispatching 3 internaitonal
volunteer delegates to conduct omputer teaching and promote digital learning
in Indonesia and Vienam with high support from the local public.
- The project has been expanded in 2012 to cooperate with 6 universites and 2
non-profit seeking organizations by sponsoring 8 international volunteer
team and providing environmental, health and information volunteer
teaching in 5 countries (Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Thailand, and
Philippines). The international volunteers include university students and
ASUS employees from Taiwan, Indonesia, India, Philippines and ASUS
campus CEO.
- The activites are planned and executed by advisors and students in divided
work for international volunteer services, combined with non-profit seeking
organization overseas receiving computers donated from ASUS (digital
learning center) to use green technology and connection with society
throught actual commitment. Through the Facebook and volunteer websites,
films, photos and text records are used to share with the world of the
volunteer service and moving stories, thereby implement ASUS idea of
world citizen.
3. Environmental conservation:
(1) Continue computer waste reverse logistics plan to protect the earth.
(2) Promote green education and relevant activities through international volunteer
services.
4. Cooperation between industry and academia
(1) The “Tsing Hua ASUS Scholarship” for mainland: ASUS Donates RMB600,000
(approximately NTD3 million) scholarship to assist students with financial
difficulties who also demonstrate excellent academic performance to complete
their degress.
(2) Taiwan’s National Tsing Hua University, “high School academic seminar” :
National Tsing Hwa University and 12 senior high schools (Zhanghua Senior
High Schoo, National Taichung Senior High School, Jiayi Senior high School.
Tainan Senior high school, Kaohsiung High School, Pingtung High School,
Taidong High School, Hualian High School. Yilan High School, Taipei First
Girls High School, Wuling High School, and Kinmen High School” holds the
academic activity to share the academic results with the public so that the public
can enrich professional knowledge and expand horizon. In particular, the project
aims to spread the seed of academia into young life to maximize the ebenfits of
academic train and complete the mission of caring society with academia.
5. Care for employees:
Arrange Employee Assistance Program(EAP) psychological counseling, free
eyesight, muscle, and bones check up, arranging H1N1 vaccine injection onsite, and
obeying the operating concept of “incubation, cherish, and care for employees.”
6. Care for minority:
(1) “Children Are Us” Bakery stationed in the food court of the headquarters with
job opportunities for minority. ASUSTeK included “Children Are Us” on the
payroll as a way to care for and feedback the society.
