2Time Warner Cable 2011 Annual Report
2011 HIGHLIGHTS Last year, we:
9Introduced new products
and features to give our
customers more choices
and control. We were the
irst cable company to
launch an app for the iPad®
(TWC TV™) that featured
live viewing of cable
channels at home.
We continued to improve
the app throughout the
year as it grew in popularity.
We also delivered an app
that enables customers
to use their Android™
tablets and smartphones
as remote controls. I am
pleased with the robust
pipeline of innovative
products we have in store
for our customers in 2012
and beyond.
9Drove very strong
residential broadband
subscriber growth. We also
expanded our Wideband
footprint, which o ers the
next generation of Internet.
In addition, we enhanced
our broadband o erings by
giving subscribers mobile
access to the Internet
through the deployment
of WiFi access points in Los
Angeles. We will continue to
deploy WiFi, with a focus on
expanding coverage in L.A.
in 2012.
9Took concrete steps to
accelerate growth in
Business Services, which
was our biggest success
story in 2011. We acquired
NaviSite®, a premier
provider of managed and
outsourced information
technology solutions and
cloud services. With the
NaviSite acquisition, we
accelerated year-over-year
revenue growth in Business
Services to 33%. Excluding
NaviSite, Business Services
revenues increased an
impressive 24% in the same
period. We believe we have
only begun to tap the
potential growth in this area
of our business.
9Renewed our commitment
to growing our core cable
business and expanded
our footprint, acquiring
NewWave Communications
cable systems in
Kentucky and Tennessee
and entering into an
agreement to acquire
Insight Communications®,
which served more than
760,000 customers in
Indiana, Kentucky, and
Ohio. We closed the Insight
deal in February 2012.
9Announced several
wireless-related
agreements with Verizon
Wireless®. In the irst
agreement, SpectrumCo,
a joint venture between
Time Warner Cable,
Comcast® and Bright House
Networks®, agreed to sell
its wireless spectrum
licenses to Verizon Wireless.
We also announced agency
agreements that will allow
us to sell Verizon Wireless-
branded wireless services
and for Verizon Wireless
to sell our services. In
addition, we entered into
an agreement that provides
for the creation of an
innovation technology joint
venture to better integrate
wireless and cable services.
