An efficient supply chain
Sara Lee has intensified its efforts to make sure
its supply chain is organized and run as efficiently
as possible. From sourcing raw materials, to pro-
ducing, packaging and distributing the product, to
selling it in retail stores or foodservice locations,
each step of the process represents numerous,
ongoing opportunities for improvement.
Sustainability
Sustainability is one of the ways we are able
to deliver on our values. Sara Lee is committed
to promoting wellness and nutrition, supporting
our communities and protecting our planet. You

Never satisfied
Sara Lee is focused on becoming faster, leaner
and more efficient in every aspect of its business.
We’re constantly looking for a better way to approach
everything we do. It’s an ongoing process of taking
non-value-added steps out of each process, main-
taining cost awareness and challenging the status
quo. At the very heart of this effort is a shift in
attitude, approach and practice across the entire
company to a way of doing business centered on
continuously improving.
A new kitchen for Sara Lee
In the spring of 2009, Sara Lee opened The
Kitchens of Sara Lee, its new North American
innovation campus. The 120,000-square-foot
research and development center of excellence
includes state-of-the-art packaging labs, pilot
plants, test kitchens and sensory labs, where
research and development teams test products,
processes and preparations before implementing
mass production.
Accelerating our productivity
Project Accelerate, our series of global cost
reduction and efficiency projects, is well under way.
As part of Project Accelerate, the company is in the
process of outsourcing portions of its back-office
functions, further simplifying its business and
reducing costs across the entire company.
