Hertz is the only car rental company operating on
six continents, with over 8,100 locations in 146
countries. Hertz was founded in Chicago, Illinois in
1918, expanded to Europe in the mid-1950s, and
to Latin America in the early 1960s. The Company
has a signicant presence in Asia and Africa,
primarily through licensees, and is a market leader
in Australia and New Zealand. Approximately one-
third of our revenue today is generated outside of
the United States. Hertz is the leading car rental
company for tourists and business people traveling
to the United States, and for Americans traveling
overseas.
The strength of the Hertz brand is based on
our ability to provide rst-class rental experiences
worldwide, whether at corporate-owned or
franchised locations. Hertz gives vacationers and
business people condence that they can rent
a reliable vehicle and receive superior service
wherever their travels take them.
Although the global recession caused most
companies to eliminate all market expansion plans,
Hertz is growing in major, developing markets
including Brazil, India and China.
n Hertz increased its presence in the fastest
growing market in the world, China, adding 5 rental
locations in Beijing and Shanghai. The country is
planning to build 48 airports and add hundreds of
thousands of highway miles over this decade. The
long term growth opportunities for car rental in
China are almost impossible to overstate.
n In January 2010, HERC nalized a joint venture
with Dayim Holdings, a Saudi Arabian-based
company, to expand our equipment rental presence
in the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia alone, $800
billion of infrastructure projects are expected to be
completed over the next ten years.
n Hertz added 100 net locations worldwide and,
through license partners, expanded its presence in
six additional African and Asian nations in 2009.
Expanding Our Global Footprint
Hertz continues to expand its geographic footprint and is
now operating in 146 countries, including China, the world’s fastest
growing car and equipment rental market.
Our Franchise Partners….
While Hertz operates corporately
in 13 countries in North America,
Europe, Australia and New Zealand,
the Company is ably represented by
franchise partners in 136 countries
in Latin America, Europe, Asia and
Africa. Hertz is proud of its franchisees, some
of which have been with the Company for 50
years, who are committed to providing the highest
quality service to their customers. By combining
the Company’s global systems and processes with
franchisees local market expertise, car rental
customers are assured they will receive the
optimal rental experience they expect from Hertz.
