9. Jointly-Owned Facilities
APS shares ownership of some of its generating and transmission facilities with other companies. We are responsible for our
share of operating costs which are included in the corresponding operating expenses on our consolidated statement of income. We are
also responsible for providing our own financing. Our share of operating expenses and utility plant costs related to these facilities is
accounted for using proportional consolidation. The following table shows APS’s interests in those jointly-owned facilities recorded on
the Consolidated Balance Sheets at December 31, 2015 (dollars in thousands):

10. Commitments and Contingencies
Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station
Spent Nuclear Fuel and Waste Disposal
On December 19, 2012, APS, acting on behalf of itself and the participant owners of Palo Verde, filed a second breach of
contract lawsuit against DOE in the United States Court of Federal Claims ("Court of Federal Claims"). The lawsuit sought to recover
damages incurred due to DOE’s breach of the Contract for Disposal of Spent Nuclear Fuel and/or High Level Radioactive Waste
("Standard Contract") for failing to accept Palo
