Entergy Corporation and Subsidiaries 2004
AREVIEW OF OUR ASPIRATIONS
s
As in the last two years, we continue to report progress against our ongoing long-term aspirations.
With the sale of Entergy-Koch Trading, our number of aspirations now stands at five.
PROGRESS IN 2004
We were once again recognized for the highest
total shareholder return over the last five years in
EEI’s index of large-cap shareholder-owned
electric utilities.
We continue to set and meet voluntary standards
to stabilize CO2emissions from our generating
facilities and strive to meet or beat all environmental
standards. For the third year in a row, Entergy was
named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
Weare recognized for our operational expertise
in nuclear. We push for continuous improvement in
safety first and then productivity. Six of our nuclear
sites have achieved OSHA VPP Star status – the
highest industrial safety rating for a work site.
We continue to invest in our utilities to improve
performance, reliability, and customer service.
In 2004, we raised a record $1.7 million in Customer
Assistance Funds – from employees, customers,
and shareholders – to help meet the needs of
elderly and disabled customers living in poverty.
Westill arenot satisfied with our overall safety
performance. Although in 2004 we improved our
industry-standard safety measure by six percent
and decreased the number of employee lost-time
accidents to 10 from 29 in 2003.
ASPIRATIONS
Entergy will be the consistent industry leader in
total shareholder return.
Entergy will be recognized as an environmental
leader, not only in generation, but among all U.S.
industrial companies, and will demonstrate
the advantage of environmental excellence in
achieving financial results.
Entergy will be one of five or fewer key
owner/operators in a highly consolidated nuclear
industry – the best of the best – who operate
safe, secure, low-cost plants, and we will be
demonstrating new nuclear technologies that
produce far greater value.
Entergy’s utilities will be recognized for industry-
leading satisfaction, and for a comprehensive
approach to meeting the particular needs of
low-income customers.
Entergy’sgoal of an accident-free work
environment will be internalized as more than an
“aspiration.” Nothing less is good enough.
