Entergy Corporation and Subsidiaries 2004
STRONG
RELATIONSHIPS
s
Our future depends on maintaining
strong, healthy relationships with
anumber of stakeholders – first
among them, our customers. In
2004, customer service improved
with call center abandoned calls
down by eight percent and call
answer times down by 24 percent
compared to 2003. We are also
working to strengthen our
relationships with local, state, and
federal regulators as well as the
thousands of employees and
shareholders who have invested
their time and money with us.
In 2004, we took the following steps to
implement our Generation Supply Plan:
We pursued regulatory approvals of
the 718 MW Perryville plant
purchase from Cleco Corporation.
We expect to be able to close this
purchase in mid-2005 and in the
interim, we continue to purchase 100
percent of the output of Perryville
under a power purchase agreement
that extends through the date of the
acquisitions close.
We continued to pursue approval on
the resources in our Requests for
Proposals. While the transparency of
our RFP process is currently being
contested at FERC before an
administrativelaw judge, we continue
to believe the process is fair to all
concerned. We expect a decision
around mid-2005 from the
administrativelaw judge.
Our commitment to executing our
Generation Supply Plan is driven by
our desire to do what is right for our
customers. In 2004, many consumers
experienced higher electricity bills as a
result of escalating fuel costs. We strive
to minimize the impact of fuel costs on
our customers by sourcing more than
50 percent of our utility generation from
nuclear and by acquiring highly efficient
sources through our Generation Supply
Plan. We will also consider liquefied
natural gas, or LNG, in addition to solid
fuel generation such as coal and nuclear
plants. Our ongoing evaluation of these
alternatives is based on economics,
environmental impacts, and other
customer benefits.
Our goal is to continue to be
resourceful builders of shareholder value
driven by our customers’ need for
reliable and affordable power.
