Only Hertz is positioned to take advantage of car and equip-
ment rental opportunities worldwide, having a respected,
global brand and a reputation for excellence. The rapid pace
of infrastructure development in economic powerhouses such
as China, India and the Middle East is driving demand for
personal mobility, construction and industrial rental solu-
tions. In well-established markets including Australia, Europe,
Latin America and North America, customers are demanding
greater customization of their rental experiences, a challenge
Hertz is meeting head-on every day.
Our customers can now rent a vehicle from one hour to
more than one year. We introduced Connect by Hertz, our car
sharing program, to provide hourly rentals to a diverse cus-
tomer base. We also offer multi-month rentals to ex-patriots
or drivers looking for alternatives to traditional car leases.
Hertz generated car rental revenue from the most diverse
customer base in the industry last year, including:
l Almost $1 billion in U.S. off-airport revenue, from over
1,600 rental locations; we serve customers of 185 of the top
209 U.S. auto insurers, an increase of 31 accounts.
l Retaining over 99% of corporate accounts and adding
accounts worldwide that delivered in excess of $140 million
of annual revenue.
l Generating over $440 million of in-bound U.S. revenue,
up 15%.
l Maintaining the most diverse association business and
travel partnerships in the industry.
HERC has increasingly diversiļ¬ed its product, segment
and geographic footprint, with an emphasis on serving local
equipment rental needs. While construction activity slowed
in 2008, demand remained relatively strong for aerial and
power generation equipment in key markets.
