CFO's Message
Despite an unfavorable business environment both at home and abroad, LG Electronics maintained
a consistent growth in 2004. This was primarily attributable to increases in export volumes, and sales of
premium products such as digital TVs, PDPs, and mobile handsets. In particular, our overall profits have
improved due to increased profitability in the mobile handset business, and gains on our equity share in
LG.Philips LCD. In 2005, we will continue investing in research and development to ensure our future
competitiveness in developing cutting-edge technologies for the global market, as well as the continued
growth of our conventional core businesses. In addition, we will increase profitability by accelerating
managerial innovation throughout the Company.
