ITEM 2. PROPERTIES
The majority of OfficeMax facilities are rented under operating leases. (For more information
about our operating leases, see Note 7, Leases, of the Notes to Consolidated Financial Statements
in ‘‘Item 8. Financial Statements and Supplementary Data’’ of this Form 10-K.) Our properties are in
good operating condition and are suitable and adequate for the operations for which they are used.
We constantly evaluate the real estate market to determine the best locations for new stores. We
analyze our existing stores to determine which stores will benefit from being remodeled. We
examine each store and market on a case by case basis.
Presented below is a list of our facilities by segment. During 2006, we consolidated our
corporate headquarters from Itasca, Illinois, and our retail operations from Shaker Heights, Ohio, to
a single headquarters facility located in Naperville, Illinois.
OfficeMax, Contract
As of January 26, 2008, OfficeMax, Contract operated 51 distribution centers in 26 states,
Puerto Rico, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The following table sets forth the locations of
these facilities.
