Brenda Baldwin last year helped
the world’s largest grower and shipper
of carrots generate more than 765,000
kilowatt-hours of annual energy savings.
As Grimmway Farms’ PG&E account
manager, she helped coordinate PG&E’s
assistance with a massive recon guration
and automation of compressed-air systems
in their operations near Bakers eld.
e innovative e ort earned Grimmway
a $65,000 incentive to boot.
Brendas work was one example of
the kind of savings initiatives PG&E’s
e ciency experts help drive with
customers large and small. We have
created rebates and  nancial incentives,
promoted the wider use of  uorescent
lighting technologies, and pioneered
e ciency advances in data centers,
among other e orts. We are also helping
to set building and appliance standards
and targeting new e ciencies for business
and consumer electronics.
Indeed, no utility has been more inno-
vative or aggressive in this area. Since 1976,
we have helped our customers save more
than $22 billion and keep over 135 mil-
lion tons of carbon dioxide out of the skies.
Today, energy e ciency is the  rst
option we use to meet customers’ energy
needs. It remains cheap, clean, and
abundant. It’s also one of the most cost-
e ective ways to  ght climate change
a reason PG&E is one of the nations
most outspoken champions for energy
e ciency.
