OUTSTANDING VALUE
We know that in these difficult economic times,
customers are looking for outstanding value every
day. We have some of the very best store facilities in
the food retailing industry, located in very convenient
locations. In addition, our employees consistently
offer friendly, helpful service to our customers. We
have gained a reputation for superior quality meat,
produce, bakery, deli and floral items, and have
weekly Club Card specials that our customers value
and appreciate. We also have been adjusting our
everyday pricing on many items throughout the store
to help our customers stretch their budgets further.
At the same time, we continue to reduce costs, so
that these price investments can be made while
maintaining a healthy business.
At Safeway, we provide our customers with a wide
array of value-enhancing initiatives, including 5,000
low prices every week, $5 Friday entrees in our delis,
Extreme Value Packs at our meat counters, recipes
and nutritional information, online shopping with
home delivery, frequent flier mileage plan awards
and PowerPump Gas Rewards. During the 2008
holiday season, customers could earn extra Gas
Rewards with the purchase of gift cards.
We plan to expand our efforts by offering more
competitive everyday prices on many of the items
our customers buy most often, and to identify
additional ways to enhance our overall value
proposition in order to meet the evolving needs of
our customers.
