Depreciation expense was $3.1 billion, $3.3 billion and $3.2 billion in fiscal 2015, 2014 and 2013, respectively. The change in gross property, plant and
equipment was due primarily to purchases of $3.7 billion, which were partially offset by sales and retirements totaling $2.9 billion and unfavorable currency
impacts of $0.5 billion. Accumulated depreciation associated with the assets sold and retired in fiscal 2015 was $2.5 billion.
