Other deferred income includes euro 280 mil-
lion (2002: euro 165 million) of grants received from
third parties, primarily for investment purposes. In
accordance with IAS 20, they are recognised as
income over the useful lives of the assets to which
they relate. The increase in other deferred income
is attributable mainly to the receipt of investment
grants for the new BMW plant in Leipzig. The con-
ditions attached to the grant have been fulfilled.
Deferred income comprise the following items:
