reach by building relationships with global organizations that are dedicated
to health and human services, education, the environment and the arts
SUSTAINABLE
PACKAGING
By fi scal 2012, design packaging that enhances and refl ects our brands’
images while minimizing environmental impact by:
Defi ning brand-specifi c packaging guidelines
Ensuring that 25 percent of our packaging suppliers use renewable energy
Increasing use of renewable and recycled content in packaging
Developing additional product take-back programs to increase end-of-life
recycling of ELC products
RESEARCH AND
DEVELOPMENT
Achieve additional certifi cations regarding biodiversity, environmental and
climate impacts of raw materials
ENVIRONMENTAL
STEWARDSHIP
Reduce global energy consumption by 30 percent by fi scal 2010 from a 1999
normalized baseline. Goal is supported by a sustainable projects budget and
we will help fund innovative, environmentally advanced technologies.
We will continue to:
• Track and evaluate energy use on a quarterly basis
• Research and incorporate green energy incentives
Generate equipment specifi cations to improve energy profi le at
manufacturing and distribution sites
• Establish Greenhouse Gas emissions goal in fi scal 2010
• Establish water conservation goal in fi scal 2010
• Increase recycling rate to 70 percent by fi scal 2012
SUPPLY CHAIN Continue to build on our supplier audit response procedures by
early fi scal 2010
