Results of Operations
Basis of Presentation
Our DIS business currently represents our one reportable business segment. The DIS business for each of the three
years ended December 31, 2013 accounted for more than 90% of net revenues from continuing operations. Our other operating
segments consist of our DS businesses.
We completed the sale of our OralDNA salivary-diagnostics business ("OralDNA") during the fourth quarter of 2012.
In addition, in December 2012, we committed to a plan to sell HemoCue and completed the sale of HemoCue in April 2013.
The accompanying consolidated statements of operations and related disclosures have been recast to report the results of
OralDNA and HemoCue as discontinued operations for all periods presented. Discontinued operations also include the
operations of NID, a test kit manufacturing subsidiary, which was reported as a discontinued operation in 2006. See Note 19 for
a further discussion of discontinued operations.
We completed the sale of Enterix in September 2013. The Enterix business has not been reclassified to discontinued
operations due to the level of continuing involvement in the Enterix business subsequent to its sale. See Note 6 for a further
discussion of the sale of Enterix.
