NOTE16 Marketable securities
The 8,597,659 L’Oréal shares of Treasury stock held in connection
with employee stock purchase option plans had a net value of
€589.7million at December31st, 2011 against €850.9million at
December31st, 2010 and €1,048.7million at December31st, 2009.
In 2011, stock options were exercised in respect of
2,739,023shares.
Stock purchase options expiring in2011 represented a total of
2,393,105shares or €187.3million (gross and net basis).
In2011, the total market value of Treasury stock amounted to
€679.0million based on the average share price in December
and to €693.8million based on the closing share price on
December31st.
In2010, the total market value of Treasury stock amounted to
€968.2million based on the average share price in December
and to €941.9million based on the closing share price on
December31st.
In2009, the total market value of Treasury stock amounted to
€1,087.2million based on the average share price in December
and to €1,110.5million based on the closing share price on
December31st.
