20.1. Share capital and additional
paidin capital
Share capital consists of 602,984,082shares with a par value
of €0.20 at December31st, 2011, following the exercise of
subscription options for 1,991,097shares and 400 free shares.
Share capital consisted of 600,992,585shares with a par value
of €0.20 at December31st, 2010, following the Board of Directors’
decision on April27th, 2010 to cancel 500,000shares and the
exercise of subscription options for 2,520,175shares.
Share capital consisted of 598,972,410shares with a par value
of €0.20 at December31st, 2009, following the Board of Directors’
decision on February16th, 2009 to cancel 3,970,600shares and
the exercise of subscription options for 527,200shares.
20.2. Treasury stock
Shares acquired under the shareholder-approved L’Oréal share
buyback programme are deducted from consolidated equity.
Capital gains or losses relating to these shares are also recorded
in equity net of tax.
