STRATEGY
EFFICIENCY
Accelerating profi table revenue growth
requires resources. Delhaize Group has been
focused on fi nding those resources within the
company to keep the virtuous circle turning.
With this context and within the framework of
the New Game Plan, the Group established
an annual gross cost savings target of 500
million to be achieved by the end of 2012.
Delhaize Group over-achieved this target,
creating at the same time and across the
company a new mindset on costs and
effi ciency for the coming years. After all, every
penny matters when it comes to creating
value for customers and shareholders.
From purchasing the products, to procuring
them, to shipping them, to stocking them…
all the way to checking out the customer, in
every step there are effi ciency gains to be
found, and thus pennies to be saved. These
pennies are the resources the Group deploys
to better serve the customer and improve her
shopping experience.
