SeveranceandRelatedCosts.During2015,weannouncedavoluntaryretirementprogramforeligibleU.S.employeesandaninvoluntarymeritrestructuring
initiative.Werecognizeda$51millionchargeinsalariesandrelatedcostsinourConsolidatedStatementofOperationsinconnectionwiththeseprograms.During
2014,weannouncedavoluntaryretirementprogramforeligibleU.S.employees.Werecordeda$71millionchargeinrestructuringandotherinourConsolidated
StatementofOperationsinconnectionwiththisprogramandotherprogramsrelatedtoourPacificstrategy.
Settlements.During2014,wesettledoutstandinglitigationresultinginafavorablesettlementof$67millionandreceivedanunrelatedinsurancesettlementof
$46million.
