RETAIL LEADERS
LEADERSHIP
A leader’s first priority is to put the team in the best possible
position to achieve success. Next, a successful leader will coach
and motivate greatness. Being an exceptional communicator
is the number one quality a leader must possess. Clearly
communicating what the goals are and the specific path to
achieve those goals is vital to successful leadership.

Our associates worldwide are our most important asset, and providing industry-leading
customer service is critical to building sustainable market share over the long term. Attracting
and retaining the most competent associates requires that we provide an appealing work
environment, opportunities for advancement, and the right training to enhance their ability to
succeed. Our corporate values set a foundation for all of our associates as we attract, develop,
and retain the best talent.
During 2010, we introduced our new annual talent management, executive development and
succession planning processes to build the talent pipeline for the next generation of leaders,
while also expanding development and career opportunities for all associates. Through an
engagement study we also received valuable
feedback from our associates that gave us greater
insight into their views of our Company and how
we can better serve our customers. We identified
several opportunities, including enhanced
customer engagement training, which we will
pursue over the years ahead for both our store and
support staff associates.
