While new ship deliveries are always highly
anticipated, we are also placing a great deal
of focus on revitalizing our existing hardware
through retrofitting some of the innovations
from our newest vessels to some of the existing
ships in the fleet. In particular, creative dining
concepts, consumer partnerships and even
the addition of new staterooms will be carried
back to select members of the existing fleet.
These retrofit projects (dubbed Oasisizing and
Solticising) will enhance our guests’ experi-
ences onboard and will improve our ticket and
onboard revenue opportunities as well. By
year-end 2012, seven vessels from the Royal
Caribbean International fleet and three vessels
from the celebrity Cruises fleet will have bene-
fitted from these revitalizations.
Looking Ahead
I remain exceptionally encouraged with the
outlook for our company as we continue to
make strides in product development and
global diversification. We remain committed
to the spirit of innovation that has built the
best brands and best fleets in the industry. We
remain committed to the safety of our guests
and crew and intend to redouble our efforts in
all these areas. And, we remain committed to
solid financial stewardship regarding cost con-
tainment, capital deployment and corporate
returns. In summary, we remain committed to
supporting a platform that amazes our guests,
empowers our employees and rewards our
shareholders alike.
As always, I would like to close this note by
thanking the millions of guests who entrusted
us with the opportunity to provide them with
an extraordinary vacation experience this year;
by praising the travel agent partners that remain
our dominant distribution channel and by rec-
ognizing the ongoing efforts of our 60,000+
employees that deliver truly exceptional vaca-
tions with such commitment and passion. And,
of course, all of this could not happen without
the engaged support and leadership of our
Board of Directors.
Sincerely,
Richard D. Fain
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
