Chairman’s Message
We will continue to succeed and improve,
driven by our passion, hard work and
commitment to achieving our dreams.
In 2014, Kia Motors sustained its growth and development despite challenging market conditions. In
particular, we were able to strengthen our position as a leader in the global automobile market, selling a
total of 3.04 million units, up 7.6% from the previous year.
The global economy has recently faced increasing uncertainties, and a slow growth trend is expected to
continue. Competition among auto makers is intensifying as a result of changes in the industry following
the convergence and integration of technologies. In 2015, Kia Motors will lay the foundation to become a
leading global company by concentrating our efforts on improving product competitiveness and customer
satisfaction.
We will enhance our image by strengthening our development activities for eco-friendly and strategically
localized cars, securing our global competitiveness, and proactively responding to the needs of customers
and individual markets. To this end, we will expand our R&D investment signicantly as we continue to
develop innovative products and cutting-edge technologies. We also plan to increase the recruitment of
top-level researchers while boosting industry-academic cooperation.
By creating new jobs through expanded investment, and seeking out creative ideas through the
convergence of relevant industries, we will also be helping to stimulate the nation’s creative economy. We
will cope with changes in our internal and external management environment in a more agile and exible
manner by reinforcing organic cooperation systems among our plants, research centers, and sales networks,
including dealers both at home and abroad. We will emphasize our corporate culture of respecting human
life and dignity by paying full attention to safety management at all of our worksites. Finally, we will expand
our domestic and overseas social contribution and corporate partnership activities.
In 2015, we will continue to pursue our dream of becoming a true leader in the global automotive industry
based on the passion and dedication of our employees and executives.
Thank you.
Mong-Koo Chung
