patientsannually,USP&QUIRONHospitalGroupisoneofthelargestprivateoperatorsofhospitalsinSpain.
Previously,thegroupgeneratedover20millionpaper-basedmedicalrecordseveryyear.Thislegacysystem,
however,compromisedpatientcareandrequiredsignicantadministrativeresourcetomaintain.Patientrecords
werefragmented,therewaslittlestandardizationofforms,andittooktimetoretrievecriticalinformationand
shareitwithrelevantdepartments.
Referencingitsdocumentmanagementexpertiseandknowledgeofthehealthcaresector,RicohEspañaS.L.U.
migratedthegrouptoanElectronicHealthRecord(EHR)systemwithautomatedworkowsandelectronicforms.
TheEHRsystemprovidesend-to-endmanagementofpatientrecords.Now,medicalrecordsarescannedat
thepointofadmissionanduploadedtotheEHRwhenapatientattendsagrouphospitalforthersttime.New
information,suchaspathologynotesgeneratedwhilethepatientisinthehospital’scare,isappendedusing
electronicforms(eForms).
ThishastransformedadministrationatUSPHospitales.Keyworkerscannowaccesscompleteelectronic
recordsondemand.Informationissharedinstantly,enablingclinicianstomakebetterinformeddecisionsinless
time.Billingcyclesareshorteraswell,withadministrativestaffabletoquicklyaccessinsurancerecords.
Tosafeguardpatientcondentiality,theelectronicrecordsareencrypted.Floorspacethathadbeenusedto
storepaper-basedrecordshasbeenliberatedandthehospitalgroupisenjoyinga20%reductionindocument
relatedcosts.
