QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE OF EACH PERSON WHO IS A COMPANY SECRETARY OF THE COMPANY
Brett Johnson – General Counsel & Company Secretary, Bachelor of Laws (Syd), FAICD.
x joined Qantas in July 1995 just prior to the listing on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX);
x responsible for developing and implementing the Corporate Governance structure to ensure compliance with the Corporations Act,
Listing Rules and Trade Practices Act;
x responsible for the management of all the legal and public company issues arising within the Qantas Group;
x Independent Non-Executive Director of Heggies Bulkhaul Limited since 10 March 2005;
x Member of the ASX Listing Appeals Committee;
x admitted as a Solicitor of Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1982;
x 1989 to 1995 – General Counsel & Company Secretary, Memtec Limited; and
x 23 years legal experience working in Australia and overseas.
Janine Smith – Assistant Company Secretary, Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (Syd), Bachelor of Economics (Syd).
x joined Qantas in August 2002 as a Corporate Lawyer;
x responsible for the day-to-day management of all public company issues arising within the Qantas Group;
x 1999 to 2002 – Lawyer, Mallesons Stephen Jaques;
x admitted as a Solicitor of Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2001; and
x seven years legal experience working in Australia.
