e division specialises in contract logistics and provides
warehousing and transport services as well as value-added services
along the entire supply chain in the di erent sectors.  e division
also o ers end-to-end solutions for corporate information and
communications management.  e divisions business units are
Supply Chain and Williams Lea. E ective  July , signi cant
parts of Williams Lea Germany were transferred from the 
 division to the  division.  e prior-year  gures were
adjusted accordingly.
In addition to the reportable segments given above, segment
reporting comprises the following categories:
Corporate Center / Other
e collective segment comprises Global Business Services
, the Corporate Center, non-operating activities and other
business activities.  e pro t / loss generated by  is allocated to
the operating segments, whilst its assets and liabilities remain with
 (asymmetrical allocation).
Consolidation
e data for the divisions are presented following consolida-
tion of interdivisional transactions.  e transactions between the
divisions are eliminated in the Consolidation column.
Discontinued operation
e Deutsche Postbank Group is reported as a discontinued
operation for the months of January and February . E ective
March , the remaining shares are disclosed under investments
in associates and the net income from associates is reported in the
column entitled Corporate Center / Other.
. Information about geographical areas
e main geographical areas in which the Group is active are
Germany, Europe, the Americas, Asia Paci c and Other regions.
External revenue, non-current assets and capex are disclosed for
these regions. To enhance transparency, the management alloca-
tions previously contained in the external revenue  gures were
removed from the areas.  e allocation of non-current assets by
geo graphical area was also adjusted.  ese adjustments did not
a ect the amounts presented for the Group.  e prior-period
amounts were adjusted accordingly. Revenue, assets and capex
are allocated to the individual regions on the basis of the domi-
cile ofthe reporting entity. Non-current assets primarily comprise
intangible assets, property, plant and equipment and other non-
current assets.
In keeping with internal reporting, capital expenditure
(capex) is disclosed. Additions to intangible assets net of goodwill
and to property, plant and equipment are reported in the capex
gure. Depreciation, amortisation and impairment losses relate
to the segment assets allocated to the individual divisions. Other
non-cash expenses relate primarily to expenses from the recogni-
tion ofprovisions.
Re ecting the Groups predominant organisational structure,
the primary reporting format is based on the divisions.  e Group
distinguishes between the following divisions:
. Segments by division

In addition to the transport and delivery of written com-
munications, the  division is positioned as an end-to-end
service provider for the management of written communica-
tions.  e division comprises the following business units: Mail
Communication, Dialogue Marketing, Press Services, Value-
Added Services, Parcel Germany, Retail Outlets, Global Mail and
the Pension Service. E ective  July , signi cant parts of
Williams Lea Germany were transferred from the  
division to the  division. ese parts are reported in the newly
created Value-Added Services business unit.  e prior-year  gures
were adjusted accordingly.

e  division o ers international and domestic cou-
rier and express services to business and private customers.  e
division comprises the Express Europe, Express Americas, Express
Asia Paci c and Express  business units. To more appro-
priately re ect the di erent requirements of Express and Freight
customers, the domestic freight business was transferred from 
Express Sweden to  Freight Sweden e ective  January .
e prior-year  gures were adjusted accordingly.

e activities of the  ,  divi-
sion comprise the transportation of goods by rail, road, air and sea.
e divisions business units are Global Forwarding and Freight.
To more appropriately re ect the di erent requirements of Express
and Freight customers, the domestic freight business was trans-
ferred from  Express Sweden to  Freight Sweden e ective
 January .  e prior-year  gures were adjusted accordingly.
