responsibilities very seriously
and continues to play a leading
role in the development of
home appliances for
consumers throughout the
world that incorporate
innovative technologies and
help conserve energy and
water resources, as it has for
more than 30 years.
In 2003, Whirlpool
Corporation was the first
major appliance company to
announce a global greenhouse
gas (GHG) reduction target. In
2007, the company announced
a significant increase in its
commitment by increasing its
GHG target and committing to
reduce its total greenhouse gas
emissions 6.6percent by 2012.
Also in 2007, Whirlpool
Corporation announced a
partnership with SmartWay
Transport,SM a collaboration
between the U.S.
Environmental Protection
Agency and the freight
industry to increase energy
efficiency while significantly
reducing greenhouse gases
and air pollution.
