(2) After evaluating and comparing the carrying value of property, plant, and equipment and
the expected recoverable amount, the Company and subsidiaries recognized losses on
impairment of assets amounted to $136,565 thousand and $45,640 thousand for the
years ended December 31, 2008 and 2007, respectively.

(2) After evaluating and comparing the carrying value of assets held for lease and the
expected recoverable amount, the Company and subsidiaries recognized losses on
impairment of assets amounted to $60,003 thousand for the year ended December 31,
2007.

(2) The idle assets are not used in operation, indicating no cash flow will be generated in
future years; therefore, the Company and subsidiaries recognized the net fair value as the
recoverable amount. The Company and subsidiaries determined the carrying value of
these assets was in excess of the expected recoverable amount, and, thus, recognized
losses on impairment of assets amounted to $116,460 thousand and $2,964 thousand for
the years ended December 31, 2008 and 2007, respectively.
