2013 AARP ANNUAL REPORT — 5
VOLUNTEER LEADERS
MESSAGES FROM THE TOP AARP:
Travelling nationwide as AARP’s chief
volunteer spokesperson has been special.
People have shared their stories, needs
and dreams. They are passionate about
their families and about building strong
communities and a better society that
offers them a fair deal and a fighting
chance.
Overwhelmingly, people 50-plus seek
to leave the world a better place for their
children and grandchildren. They are
eager to learn and to try new things.
They’re hungry for candid conversations
about tough issues. They know AARP is
on their side, particularly during strug-
gles to regain financial security.
As one Oklahoman told me, “I’m just
trying to get to Friday.
This report describes how AARP is a
strong ally in helping people over 50 get
to Friday, through the end of the month,
and to a brighter future. It shows how we
continue to fulfill our founding mission
of helping people live independently,
with dignity and purpose. ROB ROMASCO
